Often before starting a linocut I will paint an acrylic painting of the scene. This is an acrylic painting of New Forest Light. I just loved the light as travelling through the New Forest on this particular day and the effects of the light on the heathland below. This painting came straight to my mind when I saw the heathland doused in this beautiful sunset light – with the atmospheric clouds adding tension to the otherwise gentile scene. I could hardly wait to get home to capture the view in acrylic paint.
